Portland Pipeline—Portland, ME.

New construction of a de-icing pad at the Portland Jetport called for lowering one of the crude oil lines that carries product from South Portland to Montreal.  First, 500 feet of the existing line had to be removed in order to make way for the new twenty four inch steel piping.  Crews from Cianbro welded up the new piping above ground.  Then with a carefully calculated rigging plan, four 290 Volvo excavators were brought on site to pick the 35,000 pound steel pipe and lower it into the excavation.  A coordinated effort between Portland Pipeline, Cianbro and R J Grondin and Sons crews enabled all to perform a safe and successful project.
